Messing around with an SNES soundfont. Wrote what I imagine could be a Yeti-like dungeon or level theme. Ended up blending some "real" and higher-quality sounds in with the soundfont sounds.

More of my usual fare. I'm feeling a little stuck with the sounds I'm using right now, though, and I feel like I need to work on my instrument palette. I'll try to do that by next week.

I wanted to focus on composition and not muck about with virtual instruments too much this time, so I just used a simple soundfont. 100% of the sounds in this entry come from the Arachno soundfont.

Started 15 minutes late. This is what I was able to come up with in the time I had. I wrote this to be a backing track for anyone else to sing or play over if they would like to. It'd be cool to hear someone else's take on it next week!

Did this over the course of two evenings. Spent the first evening sketching out my ideas, and then the next evening recording, adding synths, and mixing.

I decided to start producing a song that I've had in my head for a while tonight, so it doesn't really fit the theme. I think I'll be working on this some more in future compo times. Check out future compos to hear more of the song :p

My first remix in five months. Didn't change the song structure at all. Just changed a couple of notes and added a couple of parts. I thought it turned out pretty well for the amount of effort I put in. Happy Halloween!

When I heard the Radical Dreamers piece I immediately thought of the third movement of Moonlight Sonata, so here's a remix of it inspired by that. I didn't use the Actraiser source.

Trying to learn some new instruments. The strings are a little rough around the edges but it'll have to do for now.

Went for a Kamelot-esque semi-orchestral/power metal remix. It kinda worked?

Finished my arrangement pretty quickly and spent most of my time working on my production skills. I feel like they're improving but still need a lot of work.

Tried to learn the basics of a new DAW (Reaper). Fought with it for days over simple things. Hopefully this came out alright.

Lots of workflow experiments this time, including rearranging my entire studio (ie bedroom) to fit in some new equipment. Cool source.

I didn't have as much time to work on this as I thought I was going to, but here it is anyway! As I mentioned in the OCR thread, this song is screaming out for a rock remix, but I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and experiment a bit with some new styles. Hope you enjoy it.

My first PRC submission. This was a fun little tune to play around with! I took it in a metal direction.

Come on, step right up to the wildest ride in the known universe! It has everything you could ask for, including multiple styles and odd time signatures stretched over two and a half minutes, from just 8 seconds of source material!

I spent way too much time on this and am not totally happy with the result, but I learned a lot by doing it and that's kind of the point, right? It's a drums/guitars/bass/piano rock arrangement that starts in Mute City and ends up in Cutting Edge.

This is my first competition submission. I remixed the song with drums, electric guitars, and a few other things, but otherwise stuck pretty close to the source material. I'm hoping to receive some constructive criticism on my instrumentation and mixing.
